New Release: Tangent Scale Models GSI 60′ Flatcar With Bulkheads

Tangent Scale Models is pleased to announce the immediate availability of our latest run of General Steel Industries (GSI) 60’0” Flatcars with Bulkheads in HO scale. A car of tremendous versatility, these cars served nationwide in service on many railroads starting in 1964, and thanks to the sturdy cast steel frame construction of these cars these cars served in a multitude of services including lumber, wallboard, poles, and heavy equipment services, to name a few. GSI, located in Granite City IL, supplied either complete cars or cast steel flatcar bodies to various railroads. Railroads that elected to purchase only the bodies would then equip the cars with components preferred for projected service.

The Tangent Scale Models 60’ GSI flatcar with bulkheads is a distinctive finescale replica that includes highly accurate lettering, “true to life” colors, and narrow draft gear. The model includes Kadee® scale couplers and an intelligent weight design to ensure the model operates as good as it looks. Check them out now at www.tangentscalemodels.com in these SIX sharp RTR schemes, plus TWO undecorated versions:

Atlantic Coast Line (ACL) “Original Black 1964” marks the return of this popular paint scheme to the Tangent line. With white stencils on a black carbody, the car is available with 3 all new numbers for 2018.

Atlantic Coast Line (ACL) “1975 Repaint” gives a new twist on the ACL lettering. This SCL-era repaint still sports the classic black attire of the ACL, but shows different lettering placement and of course, era-correct COTS panels and a steel-plate ACI label! This car is available in one number.

Seaboard Coast Line (SCL) “1978 Repaint” nods to the late 1970s, with the Spartan lettering common for many railroads in the era. The stylized SCL logo stands out, and the era-correct COTS panels and U-1 inspection dot finish off this car. This car is available in 2 numbers.

Great Northern (GN) “1969 Rebuild” is a Big Sky Blue standout. This classic paint scheme is back by popular demand, this time with a variation of the lettering layout. This version has ever-so-slightly different placement of the white delineators, GREAT NORTHERN and other lettering — all based on prototype photos, of course. Have some variety in your fleet! Check out that inside-bulkhead white stripe and raised-plate ACI label! Available in 6 all new numbers.

Burlington Northern (BN) “1988 Repaint” shows a simpler example of BN green. This scheme mimics the BN’s simplified approach to the late 80s. Check out the little things – from the lack of a CAPY line in the data to the later-style, one-panel consolidate stencil. Small white delineators and the inside-the-bulkhead white stripes add a little bit of style. This scheme is available in one number.

Missouri Pacific (MP) “Red Repaint 1983” is another nod to the mid-1980s modelers. The simple red paint is clean and sharp, ready for a load of steel. As always, see our website for a prototype photo of this scheme. This scheme is available in 2 numbers.
